Orter Lucien was born about 1854, the sixth child and third son of Orter Lucien Bourgeois and Mary Prejean[1]. By 1860 the family had moved to St Landry parish.
Both of his parents died in 1863, and at the 1870 US census he was living with older brother Simon and his new family.
First Marriage
Proper sources are still to be found for the following:
In 1875 he married Marie Alida Olivier, and they had four children. There is a supporting record in the 1880 US census showing a son Eli age 1[2]. No record for him has been found in the 1900 US census so there is a large gap.
Second Marriage
Marie Alida must have died by 1889 as he married Lelia (sic) Boudreaux in March of that year[3].
The marriage record does not state the previous marital status for either of them, but the 1910 US census includes in the household a twenty two year old Felix Moullie, listed as son of wife.
From the 1910 US census he used the name Lucien, or just the initials L.O. Up until 1930 the family lived in Iota.
He died at Sulphur, Calcasieu, Louisiana in 1931[4], but it is not clear why he was there.
