Biography

Harriet Amelia was born at Wollombi 1867 the daughter of Michael BOURNE [Bourne-1886] and Mary Ann DIPLOCK [Diplock-49]. Harriet died 1889 at Tamworth while visiting her Aunt Mary Ann FILEDER. At the Coroner's Inquest it was established that she had taken her own life with Strychnine.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT) TAMWORTH, Saturday. A sad case of suicide occurred here yesterday morning. A young woman named Harriet Bourne, a school teacher, who was on a visit to her uncle, a Mr. Fielder, committed suicide by taking strychnine. An inquest was commenced, but was adjourned till Tuesday next.

Tamworth, Tuesday. The adjourned inquest on the body of Harriet Bourne was resumed and concluded to-day. The jury returned a verdict to the effect that deceased died from strychnine poison, administered by her own hand. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved parents.
