Joseph Bouton, Jr., was a Rifleman in the Eighth Regiment, Fairfield County [4]

27 August 1776 took part in the Battle of Long Island under Captain Matthew Mead. His brother Joshua is also in the same regiment. [5] [6]

He married Joanna Harper and settled in Chester, Orange County, New York, about 1774 [3]
