Joseph Bouton, Jr., was a Rifleman in the Eighth Regiment, Fairfield County ^[4]

27 August 1776 took part in the Battle of Long Island under Captain Matthew Mead. His brother Joshua is also in the same regiment. ^{[5] [6]}
