Joseph Bowden the son of William Bowden and Elizabeth Young was born in the area of Benenden in Kent, England on 17th September 1815.
He immigrated to New South Wales in 1838 with the family of his brother William and sister-in-law, Elizabeth and their family on the Maitland at the age of 23.
On the same boat amongst the other listed relatives is another Joseph Bowden aged 4, this younger Joseph died during the voyage. This Joseph Bowden is the son of the older Joseph's brother William and Elizabeth Godfrey.
Children
According to family member Karilyn Pawley; Joseph passed away at home in Carlton Victoria in what would soon become Australia in October 1885.
His cemetery record has him as buried in the Carlton North Cemetery, Victoria.[1]
