RALEIGH - Services for William Clyde Bowen will be held today at 10 a.m. at Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Merchant Cemetery in Raleigh with Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bowen, 87, of Meridian, died Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Riley Hospital.

He was born November 8, 1921, to Abe Bowen and Lou Ainsworth. He was of Pentecostal faith, and served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his sons, Clark Bowen and his wife Bessie Mae, of Meridian, and Douglas Bowen and his wife Ann, of Tupelo; daughters, Lou Ann Hemphill and her husband Cecil, of Enterprise, Phyllis Vaughn and her husband Pete, of Indiana, Clydean Lewellen, of Indiana, and Carolyn Turner and her husband Butch, of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Bowen, of Raleigh, and Carl "Clay" Bowen, of Moss Point; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special family friends, Daryl Eaves, Johnny and Bobby Delmas, and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delia Ann Bowen; and parents, Abe and Lou Bowen. Visitation will be today, from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.[4]
