According to Census records, Asa and Mehitable's first two surviving children (Sally and Hiram) were born in Vermont, and Solomon was probably born there also -- 1870 census and Solomon's biography -- the other children were born in New York. The family moved to New York sometime between the birth of Solomon in 1805 and Daniel in 1811.
