CHESTER – Funeral services for Warren Thurman Bowen Jr., 66, of 604 W. Elliott St., will be held at 3 p.m. today, July 18 at First Freewill Baptist Church in Chester with the Rev. James Sanders and David Lawson officiating. Interment will follow at Chester Memorial Gardens.
-Mr. Bowen died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
-Born June 2, 1942 in Chester County, he was the son of the late Warren T. Bowen Sr. and Louise Gray McGarity. A graduate of Chester High School, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.
-Surviving are his wife, Nancy T. Bowen; three sons, William Bowen and wife, Angi, of Fort Lawn, George Smart and wife, Melisa, of Fort Mill, and Larry Dunson and wife, Beth, of Lancaster; three daughters, Wanda Ferrell and husband, Scott, of Chester, Michelle Bowen of Raleigh, N.C., and Angela Crouse and husband, Jon, of Fort Gordon, Ga., 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a special "Grandma" Joyce Roof.
-The family received friends Thursday at the funeral home.
-Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, is in charge of the arrangements.
