Biography

Elmina was born in 1838 and lived with her family in Dorset Vermont until her first marriage to Andrew E Batchelder. She had three children: Alice, George, and Horace. The couple spent a short time in nearby Hoosick Falls, New York where Alice was born. Early 1870 her husband died. She then married James H Mason, an Irish immigrant from Quebec. They soon moved to Rutland Vermont where Elmina cleaned houses and James worked as a Teamster and Janitor in the public schools. She passed away March 29, 1916 and is buried next to her first husband in Dorset Vermont.
