When Columbus Elmore Bowen was born on June 22, 1845, in South Carolina, his father, Sterling, was 41 and his mother, Mary, was 38. He married Mary Palfrina Prince in 1872. He died on August 12, 1876, in Antreville, South Carolina, at the age of 31.[1]
