Vera (Bowen) Dyer was born in Swalwell, County Durham, England.

Life Sketch of Vera Dyer (May 26, 1913 - June 16, 1999)

Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great grand mother, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt and friend -- Vera was born in Swalwell, England to John and Esther Bowen on the 26th of May, 1913. Vera, with her mother and father, emigrated to Australia in 1922.

They first lived at Dorrigo, and then moved to Teralba where her brother Jack, and sister Esther, were born. some 76 years ago her family joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Boolaroo.

Through our Aunt, Myra Dyer, Mum met her future husband (our Father), Robert Foster Dyer, and they married in 1932. their home was blessed with four children - Robert, Brian (Dec.), John and Elizabeth.

Their married life started at Upper Bowman, Gloucester. Dad worked in a gold mine, and they lived in a bark hut. they then moved to Marmong Point and started a poultry farm, where Mum and her children worked alongside dad to establish a comfortable life. Mum did this without the comfort of electricity and other conveniences for 30 years.

Dad passed away in 1980, and Mum went to live with Allan and Elizabeth until 1992, when she moved to the Kressville Hostel at Cooranbong. She was extremely happy and made numerous friends prior to her moving to the Charles Harrision Memorial Home, which she considered her home and where she received wonderful loving care from all the staff. she peacefully passed to her rest in the Charles Harrision Memorial Home at 6:05am on Wednesday, June 16, 1999.

All her family, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and friends will miss her bright cheery nature. A silent sufferer and a great lady who grew old gracefully.

In God's Care.[1]
