The son of George Bowen and Almira (Mudgett) Bowen, Raymond Bowen was born in Tecumseh, Michigan[citation needed] in 1851, residing there with his family.[1][2] His father passed away in 1874 and after his older brother's marriage in 1870, Raymond became the head of the family, farming in Tecumseh to support himself, his mother, a cousin, Bertha Spalding, age 27, and his uncle, Lewis A. Mudgett, age 54.[3] Raymond married Dora (Anthony) Bowen, the daughter of Daniel Anthony and Juliana C. Haviland, marrying in Raisin Township, Michigan on April 10, 1889[4] and having three children together.
They made their home in Tecumseh, where Ray began working as an electrician.[5] In 1910, he worked as an electrician for the telephone company, residing at 219 North Union Street in Tecumseh.[6][7][8]
Raymond Bowen passed away in Tecumseh, Michigan at the age of 80[9] and is buried at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, Michigan.[10][11]
