Roy married Ora May Ehl on 25 June 1905 in Rolland Township, Isabella County, Michigan.[2] They lived in Crystal, Montcalm County, Michigan, where Roy worked out in farm labor.[3] By 1918 he was farming for himself.[4] In 1920 they rented a farm in Carson City, Montcalm County, Michigan.[5] In 1930 they rented a farm in Orange Township, Kalkaska County, Michigan.[6] In 1940 Roy labored in road work.[7]
Roy died unexpectedly at the home of his son on 1699 Perry Street near Holland on Thursday, 3 October 1957. Funeral services were held Monday, October 7, at the Spencer Church of Christ with Rev. Donald Lahman.[8] He was buried at Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County, Michigan.[9]
