Biography
The son of Myron Bowen and Martha (Shay) Bowen, James was born in Adrian in 1850.[citation needed] His family farmed in Madison Township, in Lenawee County,[1] residing in Pittsford Township in 1870.[2] James Bowen married Harriet Elvira Ten Eyck (1856-1942), the daughter of Albert ten Eyck and Cornelia B. Hill, marrying in Hudson, Michigan on January 19, 1876.[3] Their children included:

Cora Bowen (1879-)
Alice Louisa Bowen (1880-1958)
In 1880, they lived in Rollin Township, in Lenawee County, where James worked as a day laborer.[4] By 1900, they lived in Pittsford Township, in Hillsdale County, with James working as a farm laborer.[5][6] In 1920, residing in Wheatland Township, he worked as a farm laborer at a neighboring farm.[7]
James Bowen passed away in Wheatland Township, Michigan at the age of 76[8][9] and is buried at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, Michigan.[10]
