Biography

Note: William Bowers Jr. was tax collector of Hart County during the years of
1864-65. He was also at one time a member of the inferior court of Hart Co.,
by reason of which service he derived the title ofjudge. He lived at Eagle
Grove, and kept the post office of that name, which was on the star route from
Ruckersville, prehaps later from Elberton to Carnesville. The mail route was
along, according to traditiion, what was originally an Indian trail. - History
of Hart County, Baker. Is listed in 1850 census of Elbert Co, p. 438B.
