Was a corporal in 26th VA Infantry (Edgar's Battalion), Co. I. Enlisted in Dublin, VA 24 July 1862. Was shot in right leg at Battle of Cold Harbor. Was hospitalized in Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, VA from 1 May 1864 until transferred to General Hospital No 9 on 2 June 1864.
Died at home (811 Van Buren, Beaumont, Jefferson, TX) at 12:25 pm. Services held at the Church of the Nazarene in Beaumont. Was originally scheduled to be buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery (per obituary), but his grave is in Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson, TX. 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
