Morton was born in 1873, son of David Bowers (1847–1906) and Elizabeth Ginn (1847–1917). For reasons unknown he is not shown on a census with them. His siblings are Myrtle (1870– bef 1900), Curtis Kirk (1875–1958) and Daisy E (1881–1903).
His first wife was Melissa Melville Harvey (1868–1921) they married in 1897[1]. In 1900 they were living on Jackson street with his wifes parents, and daughter Edna May Bowers (1897–1989) who was 3, his wife was 32[2], he was a farm laborer. They were living on a farm Chapman road in 1910 with his mother in law[3] Edna was 13. He was still farming at the time of the WWI draft[4]. In 1920 it was just he and his wife on Washington St[5] he was now employed as a carpenter.
He was working as a repairman in a cabinet factory in 1930[7]. Irene was 36 and her 2 children Alice 14 and Omar 12 Cory were living with them, they also had a daughter Joyce who was 2. 1930 - 1940s brought sorrow and happiness; his stepson Omar passed away and his stepdaughter Alice married[8], they lived on Spring st, young Joyce was now 12.
He passed away in 1946 at 72 years of age, interred in the White Union Cemetery, Henry County, Indiana, USA[9].
