In the marriage articles which are dated 26th September 1568, Agnes is then called the eldest daughter, which apparently means the eldest unmarried. By a second wife, Jane Talbot, Sir George Bowes had several other daughters, to one of whom the Queen was godmother, and was present at her christening. She also was called Elizabeth, so that there were two sisters of the same name. The elder, as we have seen, became the wife of Sir Christopher Wandesford of Kirklington, the younger Elizabeth married Sir Timothy Hutton of Marske.
