Biography

Origin

The Bollings (formerly of the Bollings of Bolling Hall) were an ancient family in Yorkshire. A Robert Bolling, in the reign of Edward the Fourth, of England, possessed Bolling Hall. This John Bolling, according to Robert Bolling, was a descendant.[1] Bolling Hall finally passed to Sir Richard Tempest upon his marriage to Rosamond, daughter and heiress of Tristram.[2]

John is assumed to have been baptized (or born ?) on 1 Jan 1615 at All Hallows, Barkin Parish, Tower Street, London, a son of Robert Bolling and Anne Clarke (Source is Millennium File).[citation needed]

Marriage

On 23 Nov 1640 John Bolling of St. Clement Danes, Westminster, obtained a license to marry a widow, Mary Carie, of the same parish, at the parish church. Mary's maiden name is unknown.

The marriage is assumed to have taken place, as a child named Anne Bolling was baptized at the same church on 5 Sep 1641, as the daughter of John Bolling and his wife Mary. FamilySearch has no further baptisms for this couple in the same register, nor have any baptisms of any further children yet been found elsewhere. (However, the Church of England was entering a period of major upheavals)

His wife, Mary (or Marie) was widowed at the time of their marriage so it's not known if Carrie (Carie, Carey) is her maiden name or the surname of her first husband. Mary or Marie was born circa 1620, probably at London.[3]. As per her marriage record to John Bolling, she was probably a widow; therefore her maiden name, technically, is unknown.

Marriage License

23 Nov 1640, St Clement Danes, Westminster[4][5]

John Bolling (signature with in this case the double l)[5][6][7]

They married on 23 Nov 1640 at London's St_Clement Danes church.[3][8]

His wife's death

Mary Bolling died young, on about 1648. She was buried on 11 November 1648 at All Hallows Barking, London.[3][9]

Death and Legacy

John was buried on 21 December 1685 at St Mary, Whitechapel, Middlesex.[10]

Research Notes

John was born about 1615. He passed away about 1648.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Bolling-1205 and Bolling-35 appear to represent the same person because: parents are duplicates, marriage is identical, but, wife's name is unsourced. Looks like these were intended to be the same person, but lineage shown is unsupported with sources.

Bolling-697 and Bolling-1205 do not represent the same person because: These are two different men.

I agree that the parents should be removed.

Can someone take a look at this profile, the data and the biography do not match. Death is 1685 in biography, which would make him 105 at death....

Bolling-499 and Bolling-35 are not ready to be merged because: The fathers need to be compared. The Bolling, Boling, Bolin, surnamed have been spelled dozens of ways.

There may have been two different John Bolling's, that lived in London, England, One born in 1602 and the other maybe around 1615. This is a link to Christening, where the mother is Ellyn. Child is Sarah

Bolling-688 and Bolling-35 appear to represent the same person because: based on marriage, parents and children, it looks like these were intended to be the same person, need sources for data on Bolling-688, or just use Bolling-35 information

Are the Bolling-688, Bolling-35, and Bolling-499 the same person?

I do apologize, but you might see where this becomes rather overwhelming? I was doing this and even more extensively through the Tabors and Greenes, etc on my dad's 23andme, yet find they are going to My Heritage, and it seems my cousin Cyndi has been doing some work on Findagrave. Hence my changeover to Wiki, trusted source of Encyclopedic info. Oh my, I do believe part of this is in comments on Mary Richardson's page.
