William Bowman was an Appalachian.

Son of Robert Benjamin Bowman (1854–1911), William Anderson Bowman was born on May 24, 1891, in Alabama. He had three sons and one daughter with Emma Delia Johnson:
- Benjamin 'Ben' M. (1924–1975)
- Robert 'Bobby' Anderson (1931–2010)
- Franklin 'Frank' Doya (1933–2018)
- Mary Louise (1936–2015)
He died on August 7, 1966,[1] in Catoosa, Georgia,[2] at the age of 75, and was buried in Chattanooga, Tennessee.[3]
