In 1881 Mary was living with her parents William and Elizabeth and younger sister Laura in Bratton Clovelly. Her father was a Farmer of 12 Acres. [2]
In 1885 (Mary) Louisa was a servant and sailed to New York. She arrived on 5th October. [3]
On 6th July 1889 Mary married in Racine, Wisconsin. [4] Her husband Hugh Garside Miller was listed on the birth record of their daughter Clara Evelyn, born 2nd September 1893. [5]
In 1900 Mary and Hugh were living in Racine with daughter Pearl. Hugh was a gardener and was also English. [6]
Hugh and Mary's marriage broke down (he is listed as Divorced in 1920) and in 1910 Mary was a boarding house keeper in Racine, living with daughter Pearl. She was aged 42 and had been married for 21 years. She'd had 3 children of whom 1 was still living. There was no sign of Hugh. [7]
