Biography

Rob Boy was a Tennessean.
This profile is part of the Boy Name Study.
Rob engaged in farming in Tennessee.

Rob was born November 6, 1896[1], he was the youngest son of John Aiken and Hattie Boy.[2][3][4]

He grew up on a portion of the Jacob Boy farm along the Holston River in Bluff City, Tennessee. Riverside Rd Bluff City TN 37618

About 1910, the entire family gathered for a photo at the farmhouse:

Left to right: Alice & Arch Maden, son Billy, Herbert Maden (on porch), Rob (in yard), Bonnie Maden, Alfred, Edelle, Lulu (behind Edelle), John Aiken (father). On porch: David Clark, Harriet Giesler Boy (mother) and Lee (on steps)

At one time he lived at the YMCA. As a young man, he was apparently a rather well-known bachelor. He appeared in the "In Kingsport's Social Realms" section of the Kingsport Times on a number of occasions.

Monday, July 26, 1926 it was noted "Misses Effie Ketron and Mayme Ketron and Mr. Robert Boy were visiting in Bristol yesterday."[5]

Friday, December 24, 1926 "Mr. Robert Boy is visiting relatives in Atlanta, Ga." At this time, his brother Alfred and his sisters Lulu & Edelle were living in Atlanta.

Friday, May 13, 1927 it was reported that he was among the group attending a weinie roast. "A party of local young folks enjoyed a weinie roast at Seven Springs Wednesday evening. After the "feed" various games were played and the return to Kingsport was made about 10:30 o'clock. The party was composed of Misses Margaret Ernst, Lydia Ernst, Thelma Winchester, Edna Ketron, Doris Hultin, Sallie Burke, Francis Ketron, Claude Steadman, Bob Gott, Walter Alcorn, Lindsey Peeler, James Peeler, Harry Howlett, Robert Boy, and Harold Howden. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bosch and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Spivey."

Monday, June 27, 1927 "Mr. Robert Boy is spending his vacation with family and friends in Atlanta, Ga." This again would have most likely been his brother, Alfred and sisters, Lulu & Edelle. There may have been others who had made the move from Bluff City to Atlanta.

Sunday, August 14, 1927 Mr. Robert A. Boy, is spending the week end in Bristol with friends." This was the last of the reports of his social doings that I have found until Thursday March 28, 1929 when the announcement of his wedding was published.

Wedding Announcement.

He married Pauline Ford on March 27, 1929 at the home of Mr. & Mrs. J. R. Lowry, Hill Street, Bristol, Tennessee.[6][7][8] After they were married, they lived on Windsor Avenue in Bristol.[6][9] He worked at the Kingsport Press and soon they bought a house in Kingsport.

After the birth of their son, Bobby, they sold the Kingsport property and purchased the home place of his parents from his oldest brother Clark "D.C." in Bluff City.[10] He had a tobacco allotment, raised beef cattle, and did general farming. He was known for his prize watermelons which he sold on his farm and to the local schools.

He passed away suddenly on February 16, 1978.[11][12]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rob by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rob:
