Colin George Alexander Boyce was born in Burketown on 12 April 1899 and, like his father and brother, attended the Toowoomba Grammar School. In World War I he joined the Australian Flying Corps (from 1921, the RAAF). After the war he joined the Toowoomba Foundry as a salesman and later was Toowoomba Sales Office Manager. Colin was an excellent sportsman, particularly, like many Boyces, in golf. He married on 1 September 1928 (the same day as his cousin Pauline Boyce married Sydney Appleby in Brisbane) in St Luke’s Church, Toowoomba, Gweneth Valmai Hurworth (1908-93), and the couple had one son, Peter. Colin died in a car accident on The Range in 1937. He was not buried in the family plot.
