Descendant
Richard Boyce is a Military Veteran.
Served in the United States Air Force 1953-1958

U.S. Air Force 1st Lieutenant Richard Hyland Boyce died in the crash of a military jet.

Richard Hyland Boyce, son of Lenox Boyce and Marianne Hyland, was born 9 December 1930[1][2] in Seattle, King Co., Washington.[3]

The 1940 U.S. Census showed Richard L. [sic] Boyce living in Seattle with his mother, sister, aunt, and maternal grandparents.[4]

On 16 March 1941, guests to the traditional Sunday family night supper at the Seattle home of Ivan and Helen Hyland were greeted by ten-year-old Richard Hyland Boyce and his nine-year-old sister Nancy Boyce, who gave the guests carnations with tiny white parchment cards, announcing the engagement of Mr. and Mrs. Hyland's daughter Kate Louise Hyland to F. A. Sanzo of Stamford, Connecticut.[5]

On 18 February 1953 Richard Hyland Boyce enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the 407th Air Refueling Squadron, 4061st Air Refueling Wing, Air Force, at Malstrom Air Force Base, Montana. He was a first lieutenant.[1][2][6]

Richard married Anna Margaret Dahlquist on 19 September 1954 in Seattle.[3]

Richard was only 28 years old when he died on 4 June 1958,[2][1] as did first lieutenant Paul M. Moore, 24, of Cozaddale, Ohio, when the T33 jet trainer that they were flying on a routine combat readiness mission crashed and burned 17 miles northwest of Anchorage, Alaska, between Beaver Lake and the Little Susitna River.[6]

Burial was at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery, Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., Colorado.[2]

Richard was survived by his wife Anna, his mother and step-father [Bertrand M. Bryant,[6] sister, and maternal grandmother.
