Biography

When Vernon Carnahan Boyd was born on June 30, 1896, in White Eyes, Ohio, his father, Alexander, was 40 and his mother, Caroline (Carnahan), was 42. He served during World War I, Private First Class with Battery A, 135th Field Artillery.

Vernon married Evelyne Ethel Thompson on October 18, 1924, in Elyria, Ohio. They had one child during their marriage (he died as a child). Vernon died on March 16, 1958, in San Gabriel, California, at the age of 61, and was buried in Whittier, California.

Vernon Boyd passed away at his home, 815 E. Wells Street, San Gabriel, March 16, 1958.

A native of Ohio and a resident of San Gabriel one year he was a prominent Mason. He was Senior Grand Deacon of the Grand Lodge, State of Ohio; Past Master of Clinton Lodge Number 47 F. and A.M. in Massillon, Ohio; Member of Canton Ohio Consistory Scottish Rite, and Al Malaikah Temple Shrine of Los Angeles.

Survived by his wife Mrs. Evelyne Boyd; two sisters Mrs. Henry Kennedy of Lancaster, Ohio, and Mrs. Lillian Huss of Massillon, Ohio, also his brother Jesse Boyd of Massillon, Ohio.

Funeral services Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Pierce Bros - Fred A. Turner Mortuary, 225 North Garfield, Alhambra, Rev. L.J. Reckard and the San Gabriel Valley Masonic Board officiating. Interment Rose Hills Cemetery (18-S).
