Biography

James was born in 1834.

He emigrated from Ireland to South Africa. He may have travelled on the ship Rydal (24 October 1859). If so he was 24 years of age and his surety was provided by H Herron PMB 45th Regt.^[1]

At the age of 30 he married 24 year old Annie Stephen on 3 July 1868 in Pietermaritzburg, Natal. His occupation was recorded as Farmer.^[2]

They had at least six children:

He passed away in 1922 at the age of 88. Cause of Death: Heart Failure^[3]
