He married Margaret Long on Apr 11,1731 at Boston, Massachusetts.[3]
She was born in Ireland, a daughter of John Long and Sarah Jane (___) Long.
Margaret died at Shelburne, Mass. on Sep 30,1793.
John Boyd was probably among the immigrants in 1718 from Ulster, Ireland. He and his wife were warned out of Rumney Marsh, and went to Hopkinton or Upton, Mass. before finally locating in Shelburne, Mass.
John, son of James Boyd, landed with his brother James, in Boston,[citation needed] and further record of him is lost. Tradition says that he was killed in a Naval action under John Paul Jones, but it must have been another John of the family, as this John would be seventy or eighty years old at the time of the Revolution. The Navy Department has no record of a John Boyd serving on any of Jones ships, but then the records of that period are very incomplete.
