Biography

James Boyd born 1741 in Brunswick County, Virginia was the son of Patrick Boyd and Rachel Grissom. He served in the Revolutionary War in a variety of capacities. He married Sarah Chamberlain in 1762. He passed away in 1815 in Halifax County, Virginia.

The story goes........ In 1778, John Boyd, son of Patrick Boyd, who was the first son of George and Isabella Boyd of Compass, PA, and had settled in Halifax County, Virginia with his three brothers, was a part of the Donelson Party that came down the Tennessee River system to the Ohio river and then went up stream through present day Kentucky to Nashville, TN. John’s elder brother, James Boyd, seem to have joined John’s descendants in Trigg and Christian Counties, Kentucky at a later time. https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/search?mlist=boyd%40rootsweb.com&q=Barren+County%2C+KY&page=2
