Cyrus Boyd has been stated to have been born on 17 August 1778 and died on 2 January 1844, the son of William Boyd.[1] In 1820, he was at Goshen, Belmont County, Ohio, aged between 26 thru 44.[2] In 1830, he is listed as aged between 50 thru 59.[3] In the 1840 census, he is aged 60 thru 69.[4]
Cyrus has been stated to have married Jane White, daughter of Jesse White.[5] They married, likely at Pennsylvania prior to 26 April 1800; Cyrus was not a Quaker, since Quaker records show that Jane White was dismissed for marrying outside the community.[6] Their son Amor's death certificate calls noted his parents as Cyrus Boyd and Gerry White.[7]
Jane White is known to have been with her parents at the Westland MM in Bethlehem Township, Washington, Co., PA in 1796.[8] Thus, this would be the likely location she would have met/married her husband Cyrus Boyd. Cyrus is a unique name, and in the 1800 federal census at Pennsylvania, there is only one Cyrus Boyd, being located at East Bethlehem, Washington Co., PA.[9] The household is only 2 members, male and female 16 thru 25, which aligns with the expected ages of Cyrus and Jane, as well as with their expected marriage c. 1800.
Cyrus Boyd of Belmont County, Ohio received a land patent from the Steubenville land office on 19 June 1807 for 160 acres, which he sold to Matthew Wood on 5 November 1809.[10] Cyrus Boyd of Belmont county then bought on 18 December 1809 land from John Lewes.[11] He received the patent on 23 December 1811.[12] In 1820, Cyrus Boyd was at Goshen, Belmont, OH next to Jesse White and Israel White.[13] On 15 July 1825, Cyrus Boyd of Belmont obtained a warrant for 69 acres in the district of Marietta.[14]
Cyrus Boyd helped settle the estate of Jesse White at Belmont County, Ohio on 12 March 1838.[15] In 1841, during the probate of Jesse White, John H. Price, the father-in-law of Cyrus Boyd Jr. was chosen as an administrator.[16] On 31 May 1813, Cyrus Boyd and his wife Jane sold land to James White, which Jesse White witnessed.[17] Cyrus and his wife again sold land to James White on 14 February 1839, which was witness by Hannah Boyd.[18]
Cyrus' will was dated 9 March 1843 and proved 11 March 1843, with his sons Cyrus and William as executors. The will was witnessed by James White.[19] A transcription of the will was done by Dorothy Wood Ewers.[20]
Cyrus' heirs become apparent in a partition deed on 15 December 1846, which involved William Boyd of Belmont vs. Cyrus Boyd, Mary Lingo wife of Gideon, Elizabeth Phillips wife of Nelson, Ann Palmer wife of French, James Boyd of Morgan County Ohio, Amor Boyd location unknown, Hannah Wilson wife of Ralph of Indiana, Sarah Ann Ewers wife of Cyrus G., Eden Ewers, and George Boyd of Belmont, Jane Boyd and Amor Boyd who reside in Guernsey County, Ohio.[21]
Mary Boyd of Goshen, Belmont County, Ohio had married Gideon Lingo on 24 October 1821, and thus is agreement with her parents being married by 1800.[22] From the 1850 federal census, she was born c. 1801 at Pennsylvania.[23]

Based on the names of their children, I think Cyrus' parents might have been named James and Elizabeth. He might have lived in Virginia before Pennsylvania. -Kathy Gleason
