OBITUARY
The death of Mr. George Henry Boyd which took place suddenly at Devonport, removes another old resident from our midst. Mr. Boyd had known Auckland for over seventy years, and often marveled at the changes that had taken place in the city during the course of his long life. He was an exceptionally well-read man. For some years he was connected with banking interests and held important positions in many parts of the country in both islands. He knew New Zealand as few knew it, and his mind was a storehouse of historical facts of the early days. In his earlier years he had excelled at most sports. In his later days he became a very expert bowler, and was an authority on the rules of the game. For some years he had been a member of the Stanley Bowling Club where he was a very regular player, walking a long distance to be present at the mid-week games. He was present at the green on Monday, but did not take part in the play. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Mrs. Rees George of Devonport. The president and other members of the club attended the funeral today at O’Neills Point Cemetery.
Burial
