Biography

James was born in 1875 in Balloo, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of James Boyd and Margaret Templeton. His birth was registered by Jinney McAlmont of Balloo who was present at his birth.[1]

On February 21, 1906 he married Mary Ellen Hawthorne in 1st Presbyterian Church, Islandmagee. He was a mariner from Balloo, Islandmagee and she was from Ballymuldrogh, also in Islandmagee. The witnesses were John Boyd and Robina Hawthorn.[2]

They can be found residing in a house 9 in Ballymuldrogh (Island Magee, Antrim) during the 1911 Ireland Census. James is probably away at sea when the census was taken.[3] [4]
