James Boyd. Born ABT 1815.[1]Died 24 FEB 1897. We actually have no proof that they remained in Ireland till they died, but they certainly did not come to the USA with their offspring, and all connection appears to have been lost. Castleblayney, Monaghan, Ireland. [2][3]

↑ 1851 Ireland Census-- Boyd. This is a tantalizing record, because if it is the correct family it gives us a first name for Margaret Ann Boyd's mother, as well as siblings. The two problems with an definite ID of this as a correct record are as follows: 1) Margaret's birth year is three years off. This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that an older brother is listed as having been born in 1840. Either the birth years are off in general for this record, or this is not the correct record. 2) Margaret Ann Boyd Cummins' great-grand-daughter Blanche Carson Kahlstorf definitely remembered--and had written down-- the names of Margaret Boyd's parents: James Boyd and ______ McCouley. The present record gives the maiden name of Margaret Boyd's mother as Eliza Boyd (nee Campbell). It is possible that Blanche Carson Kahlstorf was incorrect on this point, but it seems more likely that she wouldn't have written anything down if she was unsure.
