Biography
Woodrow Dean "Woody" Boyd was the son of Andrew Jackson Boyd and Cora Leona Parks, born 21 August 1914, in Noble County, Ohio.[1]
Woody had four siblings: Budd Parks (1897 - 1993); Della M. Boyd (1911 - 2003); Infant Daughter Boyd (1913 - 1913); and Robert Thomas Boyd (1916 - 1987).
The 1920 US Census lists Andrew J Boyd, 45, farmer, Cora L, 45; Della M, 8; Woodrow D, 5; and Robert T, 3, in Sharon, Noble, Ohio.[2]
The 1930 US Census lists Cora L, 55, widowed; Della M, 18; Woodrow D, 15, and Robert F, 13; in Sharon, Ohio.[3]
The 1940 US Census lists Cora L, 65; Woodrow D, 25; and Robert T, 23; in Sharon.[4]
Woodrow married Belle B. Ramsey on 2 February 1946 in Noble, Ohio.[5] The couple had three children: James Lee Boyd (1946 - 1946), Joan, and William W Boyd.
He died 1 March 1992 in Hilliard, Franklin County, Ohio.[6] Information Ohio Deaths states that Woody was in a long-term care facility, he was widowed, and worked in timber cutting and logging occupations.[7]
His obituary was printed in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 2 March 1992.
CALDWELL Woodrow D. Boyd, 77, of Hilliard, formerly of Fairground Street, Caldwell, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 1992, at the Arbors in Hilliard.
Mr. Boyd was a retired employee of the Schott Lumber Co. in Caldwell and formerly sold monuments for Bowers Memorials at Sonora. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell, active member of the Noble County Democratic Party, a former member of its Central Committee, and a former member of the Noble County Board of Elections.
Born Aug 21, 1914, in Noble County, he was a son of Jack and Cora Parks Boyd.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Danny (Joan) Bates of Amlin; one son William W. Boyd of Galena; one sister, Della Boyd of Caldwell; one half brother, Budd Parks of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Belle R. Ramsey Boyd on Jan. 21, 1988; one son James Lee Boyd; and on brother Robert Boyd.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating.
Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Noble County, Ohio, USA.
