Vera was my paternal grandmother. She was born in Chadron, Nebraska in 1889. Her father, James ran a gunsmith store. I remember her telling me that Red Cloud, the Lakota Sioux Indian Chief once visited her father's store while she was there. It so happened to be her birthday and Red Cloud gave her a dime to spend. The dime and grandma are both long gone, but I always remember this story.
