Biography

Jennie Lee (Boyd) Chappel - Age 69, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away June 30, 2001 in a Roseburg hospital. She was born September 13, 1931 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Harry Eugene Boyd and Mary Lyle (Baum) Boyd. She attended Grants Pass High School and graduated from Kennewick High School in Kennewick, Washington after her parents moved to Washington. On June 5, 1949 in Kennewick, Washington, she married Maurice Alvin "Morrie" Chappel.

Jennie moved to Tokette Falls, Oregon in 1951 where her Morrie got a job working on the construction of the North Umpqua power generation system. As the construction project neared completion, Morrie got a job working for COPCO (Later Pacific Power & Light Co) which led them to various locations in Oregon and northern California.

Jennie and Morrie and lived in the Roseburg area from 1957-1968, then moved to Medford, Oregon, back to Tokette Falls and then to Klamath Falls, Oregon where she retired with her husband. After retiring, Jennie and Morrie enjoyed traveling to Arizona, and moved to Silver Springs, Nevada. They moved back "Home" to Roseburg, Oregon in 1997.

Jennie was blessed with numerous special friends throughout her life, who were a great source of joy, comfort and support, for which she was extremely thankful.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband on April 26, 1998, and her parents.

She is survived by a sister Mary Ann Method and her husband Cal of Kennewick, Washington; two brothers Lyle Eugene Boyd and his wife Geri of Tacoma, Washington, and Roland Boyd and his wife Terri of Klamath Falls, Oregon; two sons, Maurice and his wife Lori, of Roseburg, Oregon and Stanley and his wife Sharon of Bend, Oregon, six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, to honor her wishes, no services will be held. Private cremation rites have been held under the care of Wilson's Chapel of the Roses.
