Capt. Co. D, 83rd Reg. Ohio Volunteers during the Civil War. Born six months after his father's death. Was apprenticed and bound to the Porter family as a youth. Upon reaching adulthood, he became a stone mason and contractor in the Cincinnati area. He built the C&O Railway in Brenton, Kentucky, across the Ohio River from Coney Island.
