I am kind of picky on accuracy and keeping information as free and open as possible[1].

I was born in the 1980s in Blainville, Québec, Canada. I have two sons whose maternal grandparents have native ascendance and both have been adopted. I am a proud member of the LGBTQ community and would like increase representation in current genealogy spaces.[2]

Profile Improvements

I really like to work on French Canadian/Québécois profiles. Please read Wikitree Help pages on Name fields conventions and Project Québécois' Guidelines for names and place names.

  • Project Québécois: People who lived in Nouvelle-France before the Royal Proclamation of October 7, 1763.
  • Project Canada's Québec Team: People who lived in Provice de Québec, Bas-Canada and Canada East after the Royal Proclamation of October 7, 1763.
  • Remember the Children: There is a lot of child mortality in my ancestry. Taking care of the profiles of these cousins who died young is a way for me to honour their memory. You can look at my personal category page about my Perseïdes.
  • Data Doctors: I really like to improve profiles. This project aims at improving data in the WikiTree database by working on suggestions.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Jonathan or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jonathan:

Hi, JOnathan, thank you for removing British North America from some profiles. I wish we could stamp that out everywhere! Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Thank you! Your feedback is appreciated. I was exploring suggestion reports for locations and fell into the rabbit hole of British North America. I am overwhelmed by the quantity of corrections to make and accepted spellings. I think I have found my plan B for rainy days and sunday nights! Have a good day :)

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for working on Pierre Grenon's profile (it could certainly use a bit of TLC). I added you as a manager and removed myself as I have no blood relation to Pierre (pretty shocking as I thought I had a blood relation to pretty much everyone in Quebec before 1700!, maybe we just haven't been connected yet?) and I have waaay too many profiles on my watchlist. I also orphaned his spouse and one of their children in case you're interested in adopting them. Paul

Thank you Paul! I'll take care of them :)

Hi! Thank you for working on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Payet_St._Amour-16

Would you like to replace me as a manager? I uploaded my grandson Lucas's Ancestry tree for him several years ago, but then he entered high school and shifted his interests (in other words, he never became active in WikiTree; I stay on as a co-manager of his tree so that the profiles have an active manager, but I'm not much good at Canadian [or Italian] genealogy).

Let me know if you'd like to be co-manager with Lucas instead of me. Otherwise, I'll stay on

Cheers, Liz

Hi Liz! No problem. I can also replace you on Payet_St._Amour-16's siblings profiles. I am directly related to this family and a member of the Project Quebecois. I'll make it my duty to curate them. Have a good day!

I don't think you received my reply to your offer of digital information you found on my Wallis in-laws. I'm definitely interested! Thank you for your generous offer.

Christine (Pope) Wallis

Jonathan..,

Thank you so much for your help with the merge of my Father-in-law, William Herbert Cyril Wallis, 3045 and 3047. I had given up hope! This will straighten out so many other potential problems. I have gotten better about my submissions, but still have a lot to get familiar with.. So happy for any and all assistance.

.....Christine (Pope) Wallis

Glad I could help! These merges could be tricky for beginners! I didn't see he is from Montréal. I'll take a look for primary sources about your in-laws and send it to you. Have a good day.

Take your time, Jonathan. Glad to hear you are working to get things right the first time. I know from personal experience that it saves a lot of time in the long run.

Do you know about the LAC census resources. As a fellow Canadian research, I have to say they are very useful!

Just drop me a note if any questions pop up along the way.

Hello Jonathan,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted". You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

I noticed that you are importing records from a GEDCOM file. There is a new tool that can help make the profiles more easily read. You can find out more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
