Robert Young Hayne Boykin, often called Hayne, was born December 1, 1932 in Alabama to Francis Boykin and Mary Darrington James. He married Mary McKinnie Frierson on February 17, 1859 in Wilcox County, Alabama. Hayne died in Escambia County, Alabama on September 3, 1874.
