  • Philadelphia City Directories, Pennsylvania Room, Historical Society of Pennsylvania. The 1870 Directory has the address 2407 Pine, while the 1875 Directory has 2330 Pine. Both list "Boyle Felix, liquors."

(Cummings Ave. is about 2 blocks east of the Yough River, at the back end of a strip mall which fronts the southbound lanes of Route 119, aka Memorial Boulevard). Note that the 1880 census does not include Edward, b. 1874 in Philadelphia.
  • Before it required login to Ancestry, the "Virtual Museum of Coal Mining in Western Pennsylvania" had information about an Enterprise Mine that was located about halfway between Scottdale and Alverton, at the locality of Hawkeye. The Virtual Museum's Enterprise memorial listed Felix Boyle as Superintendent of that mine ca. 1882. The similar-sounding village of Buckeye is 3 miles east of Hawkeye, near Bridgeport, which is about 1.5 miles south of Mt. Pleasant. The Virtual Museum's Buckeye memorial listed John Murtha as a miner at Buckeye ca. 1882. The relative locations of Buckeye and Hawkeye can be taken in by visiting the Wal-Mart store situated on a hill about 1.5 miles south of Mount Pleasant. From the back of that store, Buckeye is directly downhill. From the front of the store, looking towards Route 119, Hawkeye is in a valley beyond the visible ridgeline, at about four times the distance out to Route 119.
