Michael was born in Ireland in 1846, the son of William and Hanorah (Sheehan) Boyle

who m. 1831 Dunnamaggin Parish, County Kilkenny. Hanorah is believed to be daughter of Denis Sheehan and Mary Lester.
Michael married Maria Farrell on 12 November 1871 in Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska, United States.

In 1877, he obtained by land grant an 80-acre farm in Platte County.

In 1883, he obtained an additonal 80-acre land grant in a neighboring section.
