An outstanding bowler, Harry played for Australia against England on the 1882 Ashes test. He bowled down the last wicket, to take the match by seven runs. [3]
After suffering from an attack of what seemed like gastric influenza, [5] he died on 21 Nov 1907 at Bendigo, Victoria, of a malignant tumour. [6][2]His friend and fellow-team member on the 1882 tour, Tom 'Felix' Horan, described him as having made his name in England as "one of the greatest bowlers the world had ever seen". [7]
Harry was survived by a widow, but had no children. [8]
