Biography

BOYLE, John Eugene , K.M. (Knight of Malta) Born July 10, 1919 in the town of Mabou, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Passed away peacefully in Toronto on Thursday, September 10th, 1998.[1]

Loving husband to Bernadette (nee Burke). Devoted and proud father to Catherine and her husband Mark Burack, and Gerard and his wife Sally. Cherished by his six grandchildren: John Paul, Jennifer and David Jeffrey, Michael John Burack, Michael and Nicholas Boyle. Dear brother to Veronica (Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Mironoff of San Francisco).

John left Cape Breton at the age of nineteen and attended St. Mary's College in Brockville. He began his business career as a clerk with Richard & B.A. Ryan Ltd. and quickly rose to the position of President and C.E.O. Under his direction for 45 years, the Ryan Company prospered. For many years he served on the Executive Committee of the Ontario General Contractors Association and the Toronto Construction Association, as well as the Board of Governors of Project Management School of Waterloo University. Past Co-Chairman of the Providence Villa & Hospital Redevelopment Fund Campaign; he was involved both personally and professionally in numerous philanthropic and charitable activities. He retired due to ill health at the age of 71. He was an enormously passionate and energetic man who valued integrity and fairness above all else.

The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOMEA.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Ave. (South of Eglinton Avenue East) from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13th. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL MONDAY MORNING-10:00 O'CLOCK OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP CHURCH 78 Clifton Road, Toronto. In Mabou, Cape Breton, visitation will be held Tuesday evening, September 15th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church. A celebration of this noble and exceptional man's life will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, 11:00 o'clock at St. Mary's Church in Cape Breton. Interment will be in the Scottish tradition in St. Mary's Parish in Cape Breton, the land he loved.
