Biography

November 19, 1687 -- Hilkiah Boynton was born at Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. [1] [2] [3]

Hilkiah Boynton was the eighth of ten children born to Captain Joseph Boynton (1644 - 1730) and his first wife Sarah Swan Boynton (ca. 1647 - 1718) of Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts. [1]

Hilkiah Boynton was a joiner by trade.

February 2, 1708/09 (i.e., 1709) -- Hilkiah Boynton of Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, and Priscilla Jewett (1691 - 1777) of Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, married at Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts. [1]

Priscilla Jewett was a daughter of Captain Joseph Jewett and Ruth Wood Jewett of Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts. [3]

Hilkiah and Priscilla Jewett Boynton had 10 children born at Rowley, Essex county, Massachusetts: seven daughters (Jane, Johannas, Priscilla, Sarah, Ruth, Jane, and Mehetabel) and three sons (Hilkiah, Joseph, and Hilkiah). There were two sets of twins: Hilkiah and Priscilla, and Hilkiah and Mehetabel. [1][3]

Reportedly, Hilkiah and Priscilla Jewett Boynton had two more children (Ruth, born 1727; and Jewett, born 1735) who were born at Lunenburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts. [2]

Sometime after 1725, but before 1727, Hilkiah Boynton's family moved west to Winchendon, Worcester county, Massachusetts. Later, they moved from Winchendon to Lunenburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts [1]> where Hilkiah and his wife spent their last years. [2]

December 10, 1734 -- date of Hilkiah Boynton's will. [2]

November 16, 1745 -- Hilkiah Boynton died at Lunenburg, Worcester county, Massachusetts. [2]

November 25, 1745 -- date of the inventory of Hilkiah Boynton's estate, yielding an estate in total valued at £650. [2]

After November 16, 1745 -- Hilkiah Boynton was buried at South Cemetery, Lunenburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA. [2]

Probate

The will of Hilkiah Boynton of Lunenburg was dated 10 Dec 1744 and proved on in Worcester. He mentioned his wife Priscilla, and his children Joanna Grout, Sarah Whitney, Priscilla Page, Jane, Ruth, Jewett Boynton, and his son-in-law Phillip Goodridge (executor). His inventory was taken on 25 November 1725 in Lunenburg.[4]

In 1748, an account of his estate by Phillip Goodridge was recorded which included cash received for the sale of the estate, wages due for service, cash received from the committee of War for nursing and funeral, debts paid, legacies paid, sundries to the widow, the loss of a horse, and administration fees.[5] In 1750, a further account by Phillip Goodrich included debts paid, recording a deed, and administration fees.[6]
