Enlisted in to Company I of the 105th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 11, 1862 at age 25 as Corporal. He was wounded (gunshot wound to the thigh) at the Battle of Chickamauga on September 20,1863 and was mustered out at the end of the war on May 11, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.

Eds. Chronicle : — For some time I have been wishing to send you a list of the killed and wounded of my company, in the battle of Chickamauga. I have delayed it, however, tbat I might ascertain the fate of some who were "missing," as friends prefer knowing the truth rather than any conjecture.
Killed.
Sergeant E. A. Whitcomb.
Wounded.
Orderly Sergeant H. W. Partridge, severely; Corporal P Reynolds, severely; Corpora! H. M. Coys, slightly; Private H. T. Knight, slightly; Private J. G. Hazeltine, severely; Private S Hake, right arm amputated.
I am pleased to say all the wounded are doing well. The weather Is favorable and they are as comfortably provided for as is possible. I am respectfully,

Hugh Mackey Boys, the grandson of one of Vienna’s first settlers, was born in a log cabin at Kline’s Corners, Liberty. On the last day of the Battle of Chickamauga (September 18-20, 1863) he was seriously wounded and recuperated in a hospital for the rest of the war.
