Biography

John was born in 1714. He died in 1760.
John Bozorth was the son of Simon Bozorth, who was the son of Jean Bozzard/t. John was born about 1714 in Burlington County, NJ, and died September 21, 1760 in Frederick County, VA. He married Innocent Borden on 13 July 1734 in Burlington, New Jersey. She was born about 1716, and died after 1761.

Notes for JOHN BOZORTH: In 1751 John purchased 200 acres on Mill Creek in FREDERICK County, VA,, a branch of the Opeckon River.

By 1772 they had moved to the District of West Augusta (now Monongalia County, West Virginia where) he received 400 acres of land as the "right of settlement" earned by him in 1770. His brother Jonathan also received 400 acres of land. When John's land was surveyed it was noted that "Chief Bull's" camp was by Bozarth's spring." After their move, John and Jonathan began chopping a clearing in the woods, around the spring that rose from the earth, where he erected a cabin. He lived there for a few years and then John must have seen "greener grass", because he later moved his family back to Frederick County, Virginia, where he bought and sold land several times, as much as 500 acres at a time.
