William Braswell Carver was born in 1729, the son of Richard Braswell and Ann Carver from Edgecombe County, North Carolina. In 1750 the family moved to Bladen County, North Carolina. Revolutionary Army vouchers show that his sons William[1], Robert, Samuel, Jesse, and Sampson along with their first cousins Isham, David, and Theophilus Evans, served in the Revolutionary Army Militia.
