Biography
Christened 23rd November 1828 in St. Mary's Church of England, Lambeth, London, his parents recorded as Charles and Elizabeth. [1][2]
His father, John Bracken came from County Fermanagh, Ireland [3]
In 1853, he went to Indianapolis, U.S.A. and was associated with the First Universalist Sabbath Schools there. He returned to London in 1856. [4]
Charles Henry Edward Bracken is said to have married Mary Ann Herbage of Paradise Terrace, Islington, at St Andrew's, Islington in 1857 [5]
The Bracken family arrived in the colony on 8 Jul 1858 as assisted immigrants aboard the ship 'Queen of England'. Mary Ann has a sister Emma Lyons already living at Queanbeyan.
