Lydia was born in Alabama [2, 4-6] in 1888 to Samuel [1] and Mary [2] (Stuckey) Brackin. Lydia married Pleasant Kirkland in 1905 in Henry County, Alabama [3]. They raised a family of 6 children. Lydia died in 1972 and was buried in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Henry County, Alabama [7].
1. Samuel Brackin died intestate in Henry County on February 25, 1897 leaving his widow Mary A. Brackin and the following minor children: Isaac J. Brackin, William M. Brackin, Rosannah Brackin, Josiah Brackin, and Lydia Brackin. According to the petition of his wife, at the time of his death Samuel left assets consisting of personal and real estate, less the $1,000 exemptable property, amounting to personal $800 and estimated value of the 160 acres with homestead about $1,500. Mary A. Brackin was appointed administratrix of her husband's estate. Bond of three thousand dollars was set and agreed to by: Mary A. Brackin, Moses L. Brackin, Isaac J. Brackin, Sarah H. Platt, Alsie V. Bond, M. T. Platt (husband of Sarah H. Platt), F. P. Kirkland, F. M. Kirkland, M. Harris, and J. C. Kirkland. [Petition to the Judge of Probate filed by Mary A. Brackin March 10, 1897 and recorded in Henry County Orphan's Record Volume 3, Pages 355-356.]
