W. H. Bradburn served as Peterborough's mayor from 1912-1913. In 1891 he called a meeting to form the first Peterborough hockey team, thereby earning the nickname "Father of Hockey" in Peterborough.[1]
Born in 1870, he was the son of Thomas Bradburn, a prominent Peterborough businessman, and his wife, Linda Helm. William married Elizabeth Cumming in 1896 in Peterborough. At the time of their marriage, he worked as a bookkeeper.[2]
