  3. Source: #S53 William S. Haynie I William S. HAYNIE I was born on 20 Nov 1773 in St. Stephen's Parish, Northumberland County, Virginia. The records for St. Stephen's Parish gives William's birth as follows: " William Haynie Son of George & Katy his wife was born Novemb 20, 1773". (Fleet "Colonial Abstracts, Vol III; Under the "H" heading, page 72 of St. Stephen's Parish Register). The 1860 Federal Census for Missouri gives William's age as 78, born in Virginia, on his last birthday prior to 30 June 1860, which would mean he was born in the year 1782. He died before 10 Feb 1869 in Bois D'Arc, Greene County, Missouri. William was a farmer. He served in the War of 1812, Fourth Company (Grenadiers), Sixth Regiment, as certified by the State of North Carolina, Department of Cultural Resesources, Division of Archives and History. William moved from Rockingham County, North Carolina to McMinn County, Tennessee, In 1827 while living in Tennessee, he entered a deed in : " Wm S. Haynie this day enters as general enteres agreeably to law the S.E. 1/4 of Sec. 23 of Twp. 4 Range 1st, E. of the Meridian in the County of McMinn, Hiwoassee district beginning on the S.E. corner of said 1/4 May 16 1825 160 acres". Nat Smith, Entry Taker. (McMinn County, Tennessee, Deed Book, p. 13, Deed No. 1242, Grant No. 833, 24 November 1827). William moved to Missouri where he is first listed in the 1860 Federal Census for Center Township, Green County, Missouri. The listing, under the name Hayney, is as follows: W. S. Hayney age 78 born in Virginia; Elizabeth A. age 69 born in N. C.(wife); Charles P. age 30 born in Tennessee (son); John T. Baylis, age 26 born in Tennessee (Son-In-Law); Amanda age 32 (actually Annie Angeline) born in Tennessee (daughter); Saletta E. J. age 3 born in Tennessee (granddaughter); William C. age 1 born in Tennessee (grandson), William died intestate and his estate was probated 10 February 1869 in the court in Greene County, Missouri. Three men posted a 00 bond in Greene County, Missouri, as administrators of William's estate on 1 April 1867. The probate record was written by hand and is difficult to read, but is as follows, line-by-line in the original: State of Missouri ) In Probate Court Court of Green ) Feb Tenn 1869 Elisebeth Ann Haynie Pett Vs Wm S. Haynie Junior Julia Bayless George Haynie Susan B. Lane Nancy Phillips and husband Joel Phillips Ann Bayless and husband John T Bayliss Milton Haynie Mary B. Reynolds Charles P Haynie Elisa Ann Maxwell and husband Robert W Maxwell Defts Pett states that she is the widow of Wm S Haynie Sen Dec that said Wm S Haynie Dec Died Siezed of the following described lands to wit the west half of the N.W. quarter of Sect (11) Eleven G____ (29) Range (24) and the East half of the N.W. qtr of Sect (11) G(29) R(24) & the N.E. of N.E. of Sect (17) G23, R(24)& the North half of the N.E. quarter of Sect (13) G(29) R(24) amounting in all Two hundred and Eighty acres and that as such widow she is entitled to the third part of said estate as dower during her natural Life and therefor prays said court for the assignment of same in and to the above described Lands. Pett further states that she has made all the (Lins) in and to said estate. Parties Defts to show cause if any why she the said Pett should not have her dower assigned in and to the above (mentioned) Lands and such other Proper Relief as the court may think just. Elizabeth Ann Haynie Atty T. H. Shon William was married to Elisabeth Ann BRADBURY (daughter of William BRADBURY and Winifred HINES) on 23 Dec 1813 in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Elisabeth Ann BRADBURY was born about 1790 in Rockingham County, North Carolina and she died after 1870 in Bois D'Arc, Greene County, Missouri. Elizabeth was living with her son, Charles Pickney, when the 1870 Federal Census for Greene County, Missouri was taken. She gave her age as 79 and birth place as North Carolina.
