Biography

Robert was born in 1886.^[1] He passed away in 1949.^[2]

Robert North Bradbury was the son of George and Lena Rasmussen Bradbury. George Bradbury was an Indian scout for the United States Army. Robert grew up on his parent's ranch in Wastukna, Washington. At an early age he was acclaimed for his singing ability, and he studied music in Chicago with Frank Baird.

He married Nieta Quinn in Portland, Oregon. Later the couple moved to California where Robert became interested in the movie industry. He starred in many early silent films and later became a producer and director. He scripted and directed his son Robert Adrian Bradbury aka Bob Steele, in numerous films. Including Son of Oklahoma 1932, Texas Buddies 1932, Riders of the Desert 1932, Hidden Valley 1933, The Gallant Fool 1933, and Smokey Smith 1935.

John Wayne also began his career under the tutleage of Robert Bradbury and he was a close friend of the family. In Rider's of Destiny 1933, John Wayne starred as Singing Sandy. His singing voice was dubbed by William C. Bradbury, Bob Steele's twin brother. Robert Bradbury's contribution to the motion picture industry remains to this day.
